Overview

hike4.0adv

This hike climbs the north rim of Black Dragon Canyon to a summit overlooking the San Rafael River. Along the way are steep slopes, stretches of slickrock, a dramatic rim, colorful canyon views and fractured sandstone terrain. The summit offers panoramic views of the northern San Rafael Swell and Reef. From below, the route looks like a giant slab of beige sandstone jutting up toward the sky. There's no trail and few signs of human presence. If you don't mind some route-finding this is a fun adventure.
