Overview

hike3.8adv

This hike climbs from Miners Basin to the summit of Mt Waas, the highest point in the Northern La Sal Mountains. Along the way are meadows, conifer forest, streams, abandoned fire roads, long climbs, the summit of Green Mountain and a steep saddle just below the main summit. The upper portions offer panoramic views over Moab Valley and the surrounding mountains. Other than dodging fallen trees the old dirt roads allow for quick progress. Check the weather as storms can develop quickly in the mountains.

open accessdogs leashedjun - oct4WD vehicle

The spur road from La Sal Mountain Loop Road to Miner's Basin is ungraded with lots of bumps, rocks and loose soil. You might be able to make it with a highway vehicle if you're careful but it's best to have 4 wheel drive with extra clearance.
