This hike loops around the eastern portion of Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve. Along the way are groomed dirt roads, grassy hills, small canyons, singletrack trails, some steep climbs, patches of oak forest and occasional views of the surrounding area. It's worth the short detour to visit Prospect Tunnel, an abandoned mine best seen with a flashlight. A network of trails allows for shorter or longer hikes as desired. There's very little shade so wear sun protection and bring plenty of water.
