Maha'ulepu Coast

USA> Hawaii> Kauai>

Overview

hike4.0int

This rewarding hike explores the coast east of Poipu. You'll enjoy 3 beaches, intricately eroded bluffs, red cliffs, windswept rocky points and frequent coast views. You may see shorebirds, monk seals and kite surfers. You start off on the Maha'ulepu Heritage Trail and eventually transition to intermittent social trails - the further you go, the wilder it feels. At the far end, some exploration and scrambling may be required to reach Ha'ula Beach. On the way back you can optionally visit Makauwahi Cave.

Are dogs allowed?

If the parking lot at the end of Ainako Street is full try parking back out on Poipu Road or, if you have a suitable vehicle, along the unimproved dirt road that heads off to the east away from the Hyatt just above the lot.
