This hike climbs the North Lykken and Skyline Trails above Palm Springs. There are long sustained climbs up well maintained single track through switchbacks and desert scrub. The highlight is frequent panoramic views over the Coachella Valley. If you have the time, supplies and ability you could continue on the Skyline Trail to the upper tram station and the summit of Mt San Jacinto. Chances are you won't want to go that far, so turn around when you're satisfied and head back down.
