This exciting loop hike climbs through Ladder Canyon then descends through Painted Canyon. Along the way are tan and gray narrows, dramatic twisty slot sections, ridgetops, ocotillo, prickly pear cactus, colorful geology and views of the surrounding foothills. As the name suggests, ladders are usually placed in the trickiest spots so only beginner climbing skills are required. This is a popular hike so get an early start to beat the crowds and heat.
