Boo Hoff Lost

USA> Palm Springs> Desert Cities>

Overview

hike3.5int

This hike climbs the south half of the Boo Hoff Trail then returns via Lost Canyon. You start in a wide wash, then climb groomed singletrack into foothills filled with cactus and yucca. There are views of the Salton Sea behind you and from the top you can see north to La Quinta. On the way back, bear south into twisty Lost Canyon and descend past interesting geology with impressive dry waterfalls. You can scramble carefully down the left side of the largest fall and bypass two smaller ones to the right.

With a little careful driving, highway vehicles can usually navigate the dirt roads from just before the Quarry Golf Club up the wash to the trailhead at a parking area marked by a string of boulders. However if the wash is unusually rough or sandy 4WD might be required. Keep an eye on the road surface and use your judgment.
