Overview

hike3.8adv

This challenging hike climbs the Bowman Trail from Kalihi Valley to the Ko'olau Summit. It's a long ridge route with lots of variety including steep climbs, a dirt road, mixed forest, guava groves, uluhe jungle, lots of ups and downs, periodic views, cable climbs, switchbacks up steep faces and a lush bog at the top. The summit, named Kahua'uli, offers sweeping windward views from Ka'a'awa to Waimanalo. Wear long pants to protect from scratchy plants, and avoid going during wet or stormy conditions.
