Lanipo

USA> Hawaii> Oahu>

Overview

hike3.9adv

This challenging hike climbs Mau'umae Ridge from Wilhelmina Rise to the Ko'olau Summit. You start off climbing through a deep saddle with dryland forest and interesting views of the adjacent canyons. Next you climb over many ups and downs as the ridge winds its way through lush jungle to the summit of Kainawa'aunui, with panoramic views of the windward coast. For expert hikers, an optional extension along the dramatic KST brings you to the actual summit of Pu'u Lanipo. Best done early and in dry conditions.
