This hike climbs over the southern end of the West Maui Mountains on the historic Lahaina Pali Trail. Along the way are big climbs, a series of rocky gulches, native dryland trees and big views of the ocean and nearby islands. The ridgetop high point in the middle is lined with towering white windmills. There's almost no shade so this hike is best done in the winter or early mornings. There are trailheads at both ends so you can either do this as an out-and-back or a one-way hike with vehicle shuttle.
