This hike loops around the Windy Hill Open Space Preserve and climbs to its summit. Along the way are pleasant mixed forest, shady trails, a switchback climb, a rolling traverse and a rewarding finish down an open ridge. The grassy summit offers panoramic views of the South Bay and a peek at the Pacific Ocean. The summit is famously windy so consider bringing a light jacket. Signs warn of possible ticks so consider long pants as well. The trails are uncrowded once you get away from the parking areas.
