This exciting hike loops around a convoluted slickrock mesa between Bull Bottom and Trin-Alcove Bend. Along the way are continuous views of the San Rafael Desert, some minor scrambling and hours of exploring large bowls, small gullies and dramatic ridges along a rim of fine multicolored slickrock. There are few signs of human presence, heightening your sense of adventure as you round each corner and wonder what you'll discover next. Go early for the best light and partial shade along the west rim.

4WD vehicles or carefully driven 2WD vehicles with good ground clearance can follow an informal double track to the wash trailhead. Park off the road just before it crosses the wash.
If you're not comfortable with the double track you can park on Lower San Rafael Road and walk to the wash. This would add about 3km (2 mi) roundtrip to the hike.
