USA> Palm Springs> Mecca Hills>

Overview

hike2.5int

This hike climbs a small canyon to a ridge overlooking Little Utah Canyon, then loops back down Big Utah Canyon. Along the way are a wide beige wash, a smaller orange wash, many twists and turns, cactus, scrub vegetation, and lots of colorful geology. The highlight is an exciting walk along the ridge top with panoramic views of Little Utah Canyon to the northwest and the Salton Sea to the south. The descent down Big Utah Canyon offers a close-up look at colorful red, gray and whitish rocks.
