Chicken Corners

USA> Moab> Colorado Left Bank>

Overview

hike3.5exp

This ride follows the Chicken Corners jeep road from Kane Creek to the end. Along the way are long gradual climbs, red sandstone cliffs, contorted canyons, Hurah Pass, rolling flatlands and Colorado River views. The road ends at a dramatic cliff where a narrow foot trail inches around to a viewpoint near the Goose Neck. The climbs and rolling terrain make for a good endurance workout. The road is often rough or sandy which can feel like a slog in mid-day heat. There's no shade so it's best to start early.

Dogs

Are dogs allowed?

Park in the large lot at the junction of Chicken Corners and Kane Creek roads. This makes for a longer ride that begins with a climb and ends with a descent.

For a shorter ride, 2WD vehicles can drive up to Hurrah Pass. This would shave 10 km (6 mi) off the ride and skip the initial climb. 4WD vehicles can drive further to shorten the ride as much as desired.
