Mt Bierstadt from Guanella Pass

USA> Colorado Rockies>

Overview

hike3.5adv

This popular hike climbs to the summit of Mt Bierstadt from Guanella Pass. Along the way are a boardwalk through a willow carr, a pretty lake, scattered conifers, a long climb through increasingly rough terrain and finally boulder hopping along a crest. The summit offers panoramic views of nearby Mt Evans and the surrounding area. The upper portions can be windy and cold so bring gloves, a shell and long pants just in case. Crowds and traffic jams on the trail are common, so go as early as possible.

The parking lot at the trailhead often fills up, especially on weekends, so you may have to park along the side of the road. Go as early as possible to avoid traffic on the road and crowds on the trail.
