Bodle Peak

USA> Los Angeles>

Overview

hike2.0int

This short hike follows jeep roads from Mulholland Highway to the summit of Bodle Peak in the Santa Monica Mountains. You start off on a well-maintained jeep road, climbing several switchbacks past open gates and abandoned vehicles. Next you switch to the abandoned Bodle Peak Motorway, climbing through overgrown scrub vegetation. The summit is a flat area with small foundation ruins and rocky crags. It's not especially pretty or inviting but the summit offers panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Dogs

Are dogs allowed?

Park in a small dirt clearing on the north (uphill) side of Mulholland Highway.

It's unclear whether this is officially allowed, but 4WD vehicles could drive up the road halfway to the summit. There are a couple unmarked gates which usually stand open, and a few semi-abandoned vehicles along the way. Use your judgment.
