Pu'u Kaua

USA> Hawaii> Oahu>

Overview

hike4.3int

This hike climbs Pu'u Kaua, the 4th highest peak on O'ahu. You start off climbing moderately through forest, then climb steeply up a ridge through guava to the summit. The highlight on clear days is 360 degree views from the Waianae coast to the North Shore to Honolulu. An optional side spur heads south along the WST to a spot overlooking Pohakea Pass. There are some steep, slippery spots just below the summit. A patchwork of trails through the forest makes navigation a bit tricky - it's best to use GPS.
