Picacho Peak

USA> Tucson>

Overview

hike3.5int

This hike climbs the Hunter Trail to the summit of Picacho Peak then returns via the Sunset Vista Trail. Along the way are switchback climbs, towering cliffs, a ridgetop saddle, steep climbs assisted by metal cables, a dramatic summit, panoramic views, a rolling traverse through an impressive cactus forest and an easy finish on a paved road. The cable sections aren't too difficult unless you're afraid of heights. If you have two vehicles park one at the Sunset Vista trailhead to skip the paved road.
