Overview

hike3.5beg

This short hike leads from the northern edge of Joshua Tree National Park to Fortynine Palms Oasis. Along the way are a groomed trail, burnt orange boulders, moderate climbs and descents, stone steps and valley views. The oasis at the far end of the trail is a nice reward with a large grove of lush palm trees filling a narrow canyon bottom. This is a popular hike and there's very little shade so it's best to go early, especially on weekends.

Dogs

Are dogs allowed?

Although located within Joshua Tree National Park no entrance fee is required, presumably due to the remote location away from ranger facilities. The parking area at the trailhead has pit toilets but no running water.
