This hike follows the length of Polihale Beach at waterline. Along the way are hours of beautiful golden sand, green scrub trees, roiling waves and continuous views of Ni'ihau and Lehua across the ocean. As you walk north the Napali loom larger and larger until the sand ends at the base of the cliffs. Stretches of wet and heavy sand make for slower progress than you might expect. Keep an eye out for unexpectedly strong waves. Swimming isn't recommended due to powerful currents.

Lower Saki Mana Rd is rough and rutted but highway vehicles can usually make it with some careful driving. As you near the beach be careful not to get stuck in deep sand as calling a tow truck would be inconvenient and expensive.
We recommend turning left at the first beach access and parking near the southern end of the park. This cuts down driving distance on the rough road and makes for a more interesting hike as you work your way gradually north toward the Napali cliffs.
