King's Canyon

USA> Bay Area> East Bay>

Overview

hike3.4int

This hike follows the King's Canyon Loop Trail from Valle Vista to Rancho Laguna Park. Along the way are groomed dirt roads, a bridge over Moraga Creek, oak forest, rolling terrain with short steep climbs, meadows, cow pastures and single track trail. There are frequent views of pretty Upper San Leandro Reservoir in the beginning and of Moraga neighborhoods toward the end. Newts are common in the forest, be careful not to step on them. It's helpful to bring a map to negotiate the many trail junctions.
