This hike loops around the rim of a remote mesa rising above Junes Bottom. You start off with a long approach crossing a plateau on a dirt road. Then you reach the mesa and navigate around its rim with hours of salmon-hued slickrock, pothole gardens, gullies, projections, rock formations and continuous views of the San Rafael desert. There's no trail and few signs of human presence, giving you a fun feeling of exploration. There's some scrambling and vertical exposure but no technical gear is required.

Park near an old wooden fence at a fork in the road. No facilities are provided. The hike begins by walking north along the left (west) fork of the road.
If you have a 4WD vehicle you could shorten the hike by 3.6 mi (5.8 km) roundtrip by driving down the left fork until the road veers off the plateau.
