Ocean Pacifica

USA> Bay Area> San Francisco>

Overview

hike3.9adv

This hike follows the coastline from Ocean Beach to Pacifica. Along the way are miles of beautiful beach, colorful sandstone cliffs, lush gullies, bunker ruins, hang gliders, paragliders, fishing and continuous views. You may see shorebirds, dolphins and whales. There are a couple spots where you may have to detour inland depending on the tide level but otherwise you can walk the whole way at waterline. There's no shade and the area is often windy and foggy so wear sun protection and bring a jacket.

Check the tide conditions beforehand. Some portions may be unsafe or impassable at high water, requiring you to climb up and detour inland. The lower the tide, the more of the route you'll be able to complete at waterline.
