Black Diamond South

USA> Bay Area> East Bay>

Overview

hike3.8adv

This hike makes a grand loop through the southern half of Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve. Along the way are grassy hills, meadow valleys, abandoned townsites, a cemetery, oak-filled canyons, a sandstone ridge with conifer trees, cliffs, mining ruins, Prospect Tunnel and several good views of the northern Bay Area and California Delta. There's a fair amount of up and down but you're mostly on groomed dirt roads so the going is relatively easy. The area is often hot and sunny so bring plenty of water.
