Golden Rodeo

USA> Bay Area> Marin County>

Overview

hike3.8adv

This rewarding hike follows the Coastal Trail from the Golden Gate Bridge to Rodeo Beach. Along the way are long climbs and descents, WWII military ruins, tunnels, summits, dramatic blufftop and ridgetop terrain, cliffs, beaches, a lagoon, hawks and shorebirds. The highlight is continuous spectacular views of the Golden Gate, its famous bridge and San Francisco. Go early for the best light and to avoid crowds and traffic along the roads. Check the forecast as fog can spoil the views.

Park in one of the lots at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge. The lot on the west side is closer to the trailhead but smaller. The lot on the east side is larger, has restroom facilities and connects to the west side via a pedestrian underpass. Both lots tend to fill up by late morning, especially on weekends, so it's best to go early.
