This exciting and difficult hike loops over Kahekili and Manamana Ridges. The rewards include hours of open ridge top, legendary knife-edge sections, continuous coast and valley views, lush jungle and a canyon bottom with small pools and cascades. The challenge comes from steep climbs, lots of scrambling, rough and rooty trails, muddy and slippery spots, overgrown vegetation and mosquitoes. Frequent vertical exposure makes this hike suitable for experts only. Wear long pants and bring plenty of water.

Walk northwest toward the fire station, then turn left and walk up Huamalani Road. The unmarked trailhead is a small opening in the vegetation between two houses at the upper end of the street.
Please be respectful along Huamalani Road, walking quietly into the jungle without disturbing the calm along this small residential street.
