Vargas Plateau

Overview

hike2.3int

This hike follows a network of trails through Vargas Plateau, an East Bay Regional Park opened in May 2016. Along the way are dirt roads, grassy foothills, grazing cattle, stands of oak trees and gently rolling terrain. Frequent high points offer panoramic views over surrounding canyons, Fremont and the San Francisco Bay. Use caution when approaching cattle, and keep an eye out for passing mountain bikes. For a longer hike continue on the Deer Gulch Loop Trail down to Fremont.
