This exciting hike climbs to Portal Overlook then continues along Gold Bar Rim. You start off on the Portal Trail climbing steep beige sandstone to a viewpoint overlooking Moab and the Colorado River Portal. Next you traverse to the rim along narrow shelves above towering red cliffs. Finally you climb the Goldbar Rim singletrack along a lofty rim of white slickrock with continuous views over Moab Valley and Arches National Park. Bring lots of water and watch your step as there's frequent vertical exposure.
