Pinole Ridge

Overview

hike2.8adv

This hike climbs Pinole Ridge into the East Bay foothills. The first part follows the natural topography on fire roads and unofficial connectors, while the second part covers an isolated segment of the Bay Area Ridge Trail. Along the way are rolling hills, open ridgetops, grassy slopes, oak groves, grazing cattle and occasional utility towers. The dirt roads can get muddy and slippery when wet but otherwise it's a good workout route with frequent views over San Pablo Bay and the surrounding valleys.
