Chinaman's Hat

USA> Hawaii> Oahu>

Overview

hike4.2int

This rewarding hike explores the island of Mokoli'i, also known as Chinaman's Hat. Most of the distance is in the water, crossing Kaneohe Bay above a coral reef. Once on the island, follow dirt trails uphill and scramble carefully up a short rock face. The summit offers panoramic offshore views of the windward coast. Bring footwear, and check the tides and currents beforehand. The safest approach is usually by kayak. It's possible to loop around the island to a small cove and beach on the back side.
