Overview

hike3.9adv

This rewarding hike covers the north half of Año Nuevo State Park. You follow the shoreline past beautiful beaches, tide pools, rocky spires, sandstone outcrops, grassy dunes and small coves. You can walk most of the way at waterline at low tide, detouring inland via blufftop trails at high water or for variety. You may see shorebirds, lizards, harbor seals and possibly elephant seals. Keep an eye out for unexpectedly strong waves along the shoreline and for poison oak in the grasses near Franklin Point.
