Drakes Beach

USA> Bay Area> Point Reyes>

Overview

hike4.5int

This hike follows Drakes Beach along the northern arc of Drakes Bay. It's a long, relaxing walk at waterline on a beautiful beach of fine, tan-colored sand backed by beige cliffs. You may see crabs, seagulls, oystercatchers, pelicans, harbor seals and elephant seals. You can walk to the east tip of the beach at the inlet to Drakes Estero. To the west you may be limited by posted signs or accumulations of elephant seals. Check the tide conditions beforehand as a couple spots may be impassable at high water.
