Chimney Rock

USA> Bay Area> Point Reyes>

Overview

hike3.5int

This short hike explores the east tip of Point Reyes Peninsula out to Chimney Rock. The official trail leads to a fenced overlook with panoramic views of Drakes Bay. The highlight is to divert onto unofficial side trails that offer clifftop views of the dramatic coastline below, often dotted with harbor seals. The clifftops can be dangerous so be careful to keep back from the edge. After returning to the trailhead it's worth walking down to the Elephant Seal Overlook and the abandoned Fish Docks.
