Cape Reinga Lighthouse

New Zealand>

Overview

hike3.0beg

This short hike leads to the Cape Reinga Lighthouse. You follow a paved walkway down a couple switchbacks and along a subtle ridgetop to a flagstoned patio surrounding the photogenic white tower. You'll enjoy continuous ocean views and a satisfying overlook of the dramatic rocky point with its famous pohutukawa tree. The route is popular and can get quite crowded - early mornings or late afternoons are best if this isn't your style. For a longer hike, continue east or south down the Te Paki Coastal Track.
