Carrizo Canyon

Overview

hike3.5exp

This hike explores Carrizo Canyon. Beginners will enjoy walking up a wide wash that tapers to a colorful narrow canyon twisting around two hairpin bends. Intermediate hikers can continue 10-15 minutes up the west fork, scrambling up dry falls to a small palm grove below an impassable pouroff. Advanced hikers can scramble up the steep east wall to explore the upper reaches of the canyon, eventually looping back via the east fork. Be wary of vertical exposure, rough overgrown terrain and patches of cholla.
