Honokohau Coast

USA> Hawaii> Big Island>

Overview

hike3.3int

This hike follows the shoreline between Honokohau Harbor and Kona International Airport. Along the way are beautiful beaches, tide pools, lava outcrops, palm trees, lush greenery, secluded spots and coast views. The south end through Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical park features traditional fishponds, stone temples and a canoe house. The highlight is frequent sightings of green sea turtles. Several beach parks along the way are reachable by car so for a shorter hike you can start further north.
