Steelbender Fins

USA> Moab> Moab Valley>

Overview

hike3.5adv

This hike loops through highlands between the North and South forks of Mill Creek. You start and end with easy walks along Jeep roads in the Steelbender Safari Route. In between is a fun off-trail adventure where you climb out of a canyon and explore your way through a maze of beige sandstone fins to an overlook of Otho Bridge. It may take some trial and error to get through the fins. Take care not to damage the fragile cryptobiotic soils in this area. Navigation is tricky so it's best to use GPS.

Drive up to the top of paved Westwater Road and turn right onto the Steelbender Safari Route. Shortly after the turn-off you'll see a couple small dirt pullouts on the right side. 2WD vehicles can park here. 4WD vehicles can continue down past two hairpin turns and park in a larger pullout on the valley floor.
