Jackson Amasa

USA> Moab> Colorado Left Bank>

Overview

hike3.8adv

This hike follows mountain bike trails from the Colorado River up onto Amasa Back. You first climb the Jackson and Rockstacker trails, with continuous views of the colorful Colorado River gorge. Then you follow the Pothole Arch trail to its fun namesake destination. Most will turn back here. If you're up for an off-trail adventure it's possible to continue to the north end of the Amasa Back peninsula. This requires navigating a maze of slickrock domes and detouring around fragile cryptobiotic soils.

Dogs

Are dogs allowed?

Park in the large dirt lot at the mouth of Kane Springs Creek. This lot is managed by the BLM and is free of charge for day use.

If you see signs asking for payment, you're at the wrong lot. Drive a little further downriver and look for the BLM lot on the right side just as the road turns away from the Colorado River.
