Kawainui Marsh

USA> Hawaii> Oahu>

Overview

hike3.0beg

This easy hike follows the Kawainui Marsh trail. It's a peaceful walk on a levee separating the marsh from Maunawili Stream along the west edge of Kailua. Highlights include birds, streams, open marshlands and views of the nearby Ko'olau Mountains. The views don't change much but it's a good workout route as traffic is light and you can choose between smooth cement or groomed gravel. You could continue from the south end into downtown Kailua but this involves an unpleasant walk along the highway.
