This hike loops over San Pedro Mountain from Santa Venetia to San Rafael Bay. Along the way are fire roads, steep climbs, oak forest, ridgetops, residential neighborhoods, official singletrack trails and unofficial mountain bike trails. The satisfying summit hosts a former nike missile site and offers 360 degree views of Marin County and San Francisco Bay. Go early and bring lots of water during the warm season. Keep an eye out for ticks, poison oak and fast-moving bikes along the singletrack portions.

Dogs are prohibited in the middle half of this route where it crosses into China Camp State Park.
However dogs are officially allowed on-leash at the beginning and end where you travel through San Pedro Mountain Open Space Preserve. So you could bring your dogs on an abbreviated version of this route where you climb Scettrini Fire Road to the summit then turn down Bayhills Drive. Just be prepared for fast-moving mountain bikers during the descent.
