Americano Doran

USA> Northern California>

Overview

hike2.5int

This hike explores the Bodega Bay coastline from Estero Americano to the tip of Doran Beach. Along the way are singletrack trails, lush gulches, steep bluffs, coast views, rocky outcrops, tide pools, shorebirds, vultures, river mouths and hours of sandy beach. Check the tides as some spots are tricky at high water. Watch the waves as you duck through a small sea tunnel just west of Pinnacle Gulch. The east end of the route is rough and rocky and one obstacle may require risky scrambling over steep terrain.

Park in the small public lot on Owl Court. The hike begins by following the Shorttail Gulch Trail down to the shoreline.

If Owl Court is full you could park in the lot on Mockingbird Drive at the trailhead for the Pinnacle Gulch trail.

There are multiple trailheads with parking along the route if you prefer a shorter hike or a different starting point.
