Tomales Beaches - North

USA> Bay Area> Point Reyes>

Overview

hike3.8int

This hike explores the north end of a series of beaches along the shore of Tomales Bay. You follow dirt roads along a grassy ridge, branching off to descend through mixed forest to 3 coves. You may see grazing cattle, vultures, egrets, herons, clams and crabs. The highlight is hours of quiet, beautiful scenery. At low tide in calm conditions it's possible to follow the wild shoreline from Marshall Beach to Tomales Beach. Be prepared for fallen trees, rockfalls, smelly seaweed and wading in knee-deep water.
