Sand Flats Shelf

USA> Moab> Moab Valley>

Overview

hike3.5adv

This hike follows jeep roads along the edge of the Sand Flats plateau. You'll enjoy colorful terrain, sandstone fins, desert scrub and frequent views over Moab Valley. The highlight is a stunning viewpoint at the far tip of the plateau overlooking the Colorado River. The road stops just shy of the tip. Reaching the viewpoint requires a short scramble with exposure, but this is optional. From the tip, it's possible to loop back via the Slickrock Bike Trail. Navigation is tricky so it's best to use GPS.
