Moanalua Saddle - Southeast

USA> Hawaii> Oahu>

Overview

hike3.8exp

This hike climbs the southeast side of the Moanalua Saddle. You'll enjoy lush jungle, dramatic ridgetops, continuous views and the top of the Haiku Stairs. Climbing the saddle is exciting and dangerous with narrow grassy ledges, long steep scrambles, lots of crumbling rock and big vertical exposure. Go with an experienced guide on your first attempt. You may encounter throngs of people visiting the Stairway to Heaven. Descending heavily eroded Moanalua Middle Ridge can be unpleasant in wet conditions.
