Overview

hike3.0int

This hike climbs Pu'u O Kila from Kahana Valley. You start off on the Nakoa Trail through lush jungle, fording Kahana Stream. Eventually you exit the trail and climb along a fern-covered ridge, culminating in a steep rope scramble to the summit. You'll enjoy frequent views of Kahana Valley and the surrounding peaks. Avoid crossing the stream if the water is more than calf-deep. Be prepared for mosquitoes, mud and scratchy overgrowth. You can optionally loop back around the west portion of the Nakoa Trail.
