Wahiawa Beach

Overview

hike3.0int

This short hike follows the coast from Port Allen to Wahiawa Beach. You start off at Glass Beach, walking uphill on a dirt road past the McBryde Sugar Plantation Cemetery. Soon the road ends and you follow an unofficial trail past coast views, rocky coves, tall grasses, dryland forest and sisal plants. Eventually the road reaches Weli Point and turns inland, leading down to a short scramble and stream crossing onto Wahiawa Beach. If you see monk seals or sea turtles, please keep back a respectful distance.

Many vehicles can drive to the end of Aka Ula St and park right near Glass Beach. However the final stretch of Aka Ula may be rough and rutted. If necessary, you can park at Port Allen and walk to Glass Beach instead. Aka Ula St isn't very pretty but it's only a couple blocks long.
