Wainiha Haena

USA> Hawaii> Kauai>

Overview

hike3.5int

This hike follows the shoreline from Wainiha Bay to Ha'ena State Park. You'll enjoy hours of golden sand beach, tide pools, small bays, palm trees, stream outlets and views of Bali Hai and the Napali Coast. On less crowded days you may see monk seals or sea turtles. You can walk barefoot most of the way but it's often best to bypass a rocky section near Limahuli Stream via inland trails. It's possible to loop back via the highway but narrow shoulders and frequent traffic tend to make this unpleasant.

The rules are somewhat unclear, but you may be able to bring dogs as far as Ha'ena Beach Park as long as they're on-leash. Dogs are prohibited in Ha'ena State Park.
