This hike loops over North Sixshooter Peak from Bogus Pocket. You'll enjoy a quiet valley, colorful geology, a lofty mesa, an interesting white rim, frequent views and a dramatic summit with towering sandstone spires. The mesa ascent requires off-trail exploration, while the descent involves lots of scrambling. The summit cone is steep and eroded and can feel grueling. The route is mostly popular with climbers. Overall, this can be a satisfying adventure if you're comfortable with steep and rough terrain.
open accessapr - oct4WD vehicle
The route as described requires 4WD to drive dirt roads to where they first meet the wash draining Bogus Pocket valley.
If you don't have 4WD you could instead park where the dirt road meets Highway 211 and walk from there. This would extend the hike by 3.6 km (2.2 mi) roundtrip.
If you have 4WD with good clearance you could shorten the hike significantly by driving to where the road drops into the wash the second time due southeast of the summit.
