This challenging adventure loops around the San Rafael Reef from Straight Wash to Greasewood Draw. You'll enjoy wild canyons, soaring cliffs, colorful geology, narrows and seldom-visited backcountry. Be prepared for hours of route-finding through rough terrain with frequent scrambling. As you progress north, two earlier drainages can be used as shortcuts if needed. After crossing back east through the Reef, return either along its base or via faint roads across the plateau. Bring plenty of food and water.

It's best to have 4WD. Reaching the trailhead involves a fairly long drive off pavement with a couple steep, gravelly sections and a wash crossing that can be difficult when not totally dry. It might be possible with 2WD, but it would be risky.
