South Mountain

USA> Phoenix>

Overview

hike3.3int

This popular hike climbs the east half of South Mountain Park to Buena Vista Lookout. You follow the National trail in an aerobic ascent along Pima Wash and through Hidden Valley. You'll enjoy unspoiled desert, interesting rock formations, some fun beginner scrambling, a natural tunnel and great views over the Phoenix area. For a more adventurous hike with more ridgetop views you can follow portions of the Midlife Crisis trail. This steeper, rougher trail involves route finding and a lot more scrambling.
